so sad tt American Idol's postponed... thanks to stupid Bush. Now i'm sure he's not gonna win the elections... all the 30 million votes are going somewhere else now... ;)
training today was... I dunno. Didn't feel too good, and it was my first time fencing in more than a month!! I've been going for training, just not fencing. Well, but i think i did well... won 6 and lost 2 i think. So i just hope to build on it. but as usual, the coach only had critisms for me. he'd walk past and scold me... haha... interesting...
record breaking today was very sad. i think about 10% of the faculty turned up. shows how apathetic we are... ah well... it never fails to happen in any school... guess i should be used to it. but i kinda feel sorry for pam though...
anyway, i'm just shocked at the pple critisms pple throw at Camile. its just amusing. its like she's the worst singer in AI. well, i dun think she is. common critisms include - she can't sing. she's out of tune. she can't hold a note. her voice is too weak. haha... well, u know what, her style is R&B, and it just doesn't make sense for her to belting some of her songs at the top of her voice. its just not her style... u like tt kind of power voice, fine with me, but just cuz someone else does not sing like tt, it doesn't mean she can't sing... and haha, those pple with powerful voices, they've an advantage. they impress with their range, and though they might be off tune, its harder to spot, so u think its still good. a typical example is Circle of Life by Jennifer, it wasn't as good as everyone made it out to be... it was flat throughout if u listen closely. it just sounded so good cuz she impressed with her vocals, it just hid everything else. and let me just point out some weaknesses of the other 8 left just so u see, they aren't all so flawless...
Diana - she screams some of her songs. just listen to Do You Love Me.... she wasn't singing, she was screaming. and she tends to be quite pitchy too... listen to On a Broken Wing. Its painfully obvious. and her lame stage performance, where she hi-fived everyone. haha
John Stevens - can he even sing in tune?? Flat for one whole song, then the next week, sharp at the last part, and flat at the start??! its not even consistent. its just bad... its not a few notes, its a whole song...
Jennifer - she just oversings everything. this isn't opera, there's a mike. and she goes off-tune, its very slight, so its not very detectable unless u listen again - and turn down the volume
Jasmine - she's usually at least average. Inseperable was good... she screamed a few notes in Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me, flat on a few phrases.
Latoya - she sounded impressive. but listen closely. for country week, she was so off. her timing was so so off. no one could tell cuz she was drowning out the music. k, then last week, at the front, she didn't sing very well for first half of the performance. yes she's impressive on the soaring notes, but the simple ones, she can't make it. and she squeaks sometimes... and it really sounds weird
George - he's good... :)
Fantasia - she screeches sometimes... and the yeah yeah yeah is becoming a chronic obsession.
JPL - i dunno what to say. his performances all have different weaknesses. it seems like he corrects something, and something else goes wrong.
oh yeah, i'm supporting george and jasmine now...
